Anne specializes in newborn baby photography as well as maternity. She serves the Pittsburgh, PA region and all surrounding areas.
When should we schedule our shoot?
As soon as you know you want photos, even if it is months in advance. I begin accepting newborn commissions upon the completion of your first trimester or anytime thereafter. Newborns should be photographed within their first ten days, so let me know your due date and I will allow time in my calendar around that date.
Where will our photo shoot take place?
Newborn sessions take place in my indoor studio. For other shoots, I prefer to work outdoors during “golden hour”. Parks are always good. We will discuss specific locations at the time of your booking.
How long will the session last?
I allow up to four hours for newborns, however, most are around 2.5 hours. It all depends on the baby. Maternity and first birthday shoots are about an hour.
Can we go to more than one location?
Absolutely, however, my pricing is based on a session time of approximately one hour. If multiple locations are desired, this may increase the price if it causes the session to expand beyond an hour.
What areas do you serve?
The entire south hills, north hills, and all areas in between. Travel time is included in the price of the session if location is within approximately 30 minutes from my home in Bridgeville. I will travel further. Inquire for pricing outside of this area.
What should we wear for our photos?
If you would like suggestions, please e-mail me. I have put together some suggestions based on my photography style, experience, and taste.
I scheduled a session. When do I pay?
For newborns, 1/2 is due to hold a spot in my calendar around your due date and the other 1/2 is due at the session. For maternity and first birthdays, full payment of the session fee is due at the time of booking to hold your date. I will temporarily hold your date for up to one week to allow time for the payment to arrive via mail. If you would like to order a print product you can pay for it at the time of your session or when you place the order. Print products will not be ordered until payment is received.
Why does Custom Photography cost more?
This is a good question because before I got in to this industry, I also thought the prices seemed high. I was wrong! In a nutshell, you are not just paying for the photographer’s time to shoot your session. There is the time needed to set the session up- emails, phone calls, or face to face consultations to discuss date, time, location, wardrobe choice, etc. Also, if I am unfamiliar with a location, I will most sometimes make a trip there prior to the session so that I can scout out the best places and lighting so as to best utilize the time we have at the session. There is also the time and cost of gas to drive to and from the session. However, much of the cost is attributed to the time it takes to edit each photo and do all of the business and behind the scenes work. I take hundreds (thousands for weddings) of photos at each session. I then sort the ones I want to keep or discard. I specifically edit every “keeper” to fit the feel of the photo as well as to enhance color, sharpness, fix skin tones and blemishes, and remove any noise or distracting background items. This alone is very time consuming. After that is done, there is the time it takes to upload photos to the disc, Facebook, my blog, and any albums or print items the client wishes to order as well as the cost of the print items themselves. Finally, there are LARGE costs of running a business including the camera equipment, computers and software, props, advertising and marketing, insurance, accounting expenses etc. If you would like to learn more, read the article (not written by me) in the link below:
